The Stations

The first stage was to get a copy of the stations designed by Dan Sherman. He has the plans on his site in dxf format which is some sort of CAD format. I used SolidWorks eDrawing application to view these files. However after a bit more hunting I found that someone had created a PDF document for each station, which can be downloaded here. In the zip file are also the stations for the deck which will be used later in the build.
After printing out each PDF document I cut out the stations and used spray on adhesive to glue the paper to foam core board. In my first attempt to build an RC yacht I made the stations out of 3mm ply, the problem with this was cutting the stations accurately because I was using a jigsaw. The foam core board can be cut with a Stanley knife or rotary blade which made the cut outs much more accurate.
I finally finished the cutting out of the stations and cut and nailed the blocks to the building board ready for the stations to be glued to.
The mounting pieces were cut from an 18mm x 18mm strip of timber and they were then nailed to a piece of chip board with a veneer that I am using as my building board. Below are the stations laid out on the blocks ready for gluing. I am going to use a hot glue gun to fix the stations to the blocks but my first attempt at a yacht used up all my glue and haven't got to the shop to buy more!!
